Introduction
"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, Fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." - Coco Chanel
Like Coco Chanel said, Fashion is everywhere. It is very important for a person in the fashion industry, or a person who wants to build their career in that industry to know the meaning and history of fashion. For this designers project I was not quite sure of what era I wanted to focus on. As I began to research each designer, I found each of them to have interesting backgrounds. While researching, I began to notice that the designer I had been looking at were all from the same era, The Roaring Twenties. That is when my passion for the 1920's started to kick in. I like that era because it is very romantic. Every designer in that time period can be described as classy, elegant, and romantic. They got most of their inspiration from the culture around them. Art and music also played a big inspiration on them. The demand for fancy suits and elegant dresses were very high. Although I might not consider myself as a very elegant person, I still enjoy learning about how this particular time period changed fashion history. In the future I am determined to become a designer/product developer. With my creativity and imagination, I hope to one day bring the style and design of the 1920’s back to our generation. I would like to make things more modern, yet with a little hitch of The Roaring Twenties.
It is very important for a designer to know his/her history. When designing and creating new ideas, I want to be able to know the reason and history of why things are the way they are now, such as fashion trends and styles. I want to create new concepts, but also take ideas from other designers. I especially admire the twenties as an inspiration, because I would want to bring the romance and elegance back to our designs today. Although there are many designers out there, I can see that they all relate to each other in some way. As the years have continues, past designers have influenced present designers, and I know that in the future we will see future designers being inspired by designers now. As I am researching and learning more about these icons, my passion for them has grown stronger. I am learning new things that I did not know before. I have also been learning about the history of the ear and not just the designs. These designs are beautiful to look at, and have been a great inspiration to me.
